A recent article in the Financial Times features the expert analysis of Dr. Alexander More, associate professor and director of the Honors College, who said increased concerns over the spread of mosquito-borne diseases due to climate change should focus government’s attention on the need to stop fossil fuel use and halt global warming.
Women’s Lacrosse Wins Multiple Academic Honors
Fourteen women’s lacrosse players earned a spot on the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Division I Academic Honor Roll during the 2020-21 season. The team was recognized as a 2021 Academic Honor Squad – an accolade earned by only 100 other Division I programs in the nation.

Dr. Gary D. Schwartz ’85 was recognized among Jersey’s Best magazine’s Top Doctors of 2021 in New Jersey for the third time. James McCabe ’12 was appointed by the Copiague Central School District to serve as the assistant superintendent for student services. He previously served in multiple roles as a guidance counselor and assistant dean in higher education.

John A. Cosenza ’95 was appointed COO of Iconic Brands Inc., a distributor of celebrity-branded alcoholic beverages. He previously served in management at Anheuser-Busch for 30 years, and most recently as the Northeast Category leader and senior manager for corporate social responsibility.

Nini Fan ’21 and her company MaMome is a semi-finalist for the 2021 Healthy Mom & Baby Innovation Contest 2.0 sponsored by Parkview Health and MATTER. MaMome is performing groundbreaking research on microbiome health using next-generation genomic sequencing to prevent pregnancy complications.
Volleyball Senior Honored for Stellar Defense
Senior Anastasia Scott was named Defensive Player of the Week by the Northeast Conference after she averaged 6.1 digs per set over three matches at the Temple Invitational. Scott was also named to the All-Tournament Team for her performance at the invitational.
