The Center will reach an international audience while serving as the leading educational resource for LIU’s local constituencies in greater New York City and on Long Island.

The Center will further complement research activities at LIU, which is among the top seven percent of research universities nationwide.

“The Roosevelt School at Long Island University and the Center for the Study of Presidency are committed to doing everything we can to encourage all Americans to do their duty. Our freedoms come with responsibilities, and we all must live up to them,” Professor Tweed Roosevelt, Chairman of the LIU Roosevelt School and great-grandson of President Theodore Roosevelt said.

“The establishment of the Center for the Study of the Presidency solidifies our commitment to lead in civic education and provide a forum for our students to further study the foundation and evolution of our country,” Long Island University President Kimberly R. Long Island University & Institute of Certified Records Managers Partner to Provide Graduates with a More Immediate Path to Certification

Brookville, NY (April 24, 2023) – Long Island University’s Palmer School of Library and Information Science and the Institute of Certified Records Managers (ICRM) announced an updated agreement to their strategic partnership allowing LIU graduates with a more immediate path to obtain certification in career paths related to records management. The original partnership between the University and ICRM launched in 2018.

The updated agreement permits master’s and post-masters graduates of the Palmer School’s Certificate of Advanced Study in Archives and Records Management (CARM), who have completed their coursework (online, in-classroom, or both) and meet established qualifications for ICRM candidacy, to apply for credit for Parts 2-4 or Parts 1-5 of the exam for Certified Records Manager.

“ICRM’s partnership with the Palmer School is a recognition of the quality of our certificate program, which has been educating Records and Information Management (RIM) professionals locally and nationally for over three decades,” said Dr. Gregory Hunter, Professor and Director of the Palmer School’s Certificate of Advanced Study in Archives and Records Management.

Rae Lynn Haliday, Lead for ICRM academic partnerships, states: “It’s exciting to expand the Institute’s partnership with Long Island University to provide the means for its graduates to qualify for credit for not only Parts 2, 3 and 4 but also Parts 1 and 5.” This partnership meets the organizations’ joint strategic goals of enhancing the overall RIM profession by supplying educated and credentialed professionals to fill demand for jobs and to advance related careers.

The collaboration provides a further benefit by streamlining the certification maintenance requirements so that existing Certified Records Managers (CRM) and Certified Records Analysts (CRA) can receive pre approval credit for courses they take in the Palmer School’s CARM.

For immediate recognition as a Certified Records Analyst (CRA), graduates of the Palmer School’s CARM must provide proof of either one year of work experience or a RIM-focused internship, externship or independent study entitled to at least 3 graduate hours with a preference that it be supervised by a CRM in good standing.

The Palmer School of Library and Information Science is the leading library science program in the New York City metropolitan area. It has the only New York State Registered Certificate of Advanced Study in Archives and Records Management, over 25 dual master’s degree programs with New York University, and the only Ph.D. in Information Studies in the region.
