Scholarship Gala Raises over $2 Million as it Honors Wright Family, Museum of Democracy

The 2025 Scholarship Gala raised over $2 million and honored the Wright family and the Museum of Democracy. The Museum of Democracy, housed at the Roosevelt School on the Post campus, is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive collection of American historical and political art and memorabilia, with over one million objects.

Tony Dorazio ’86 was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Corning Energy, founded in 1904. Dorazio previously served as Managing Partner of Montgomery Group, an energy and utility consulting firm and held senior positions with global energy companies, including Duke Energy and BP.

Howard Murad Inclusive Wellness Center Names Director

Tracey Hodurski was named Director of the Howard Murad Inclusive Wellness Program established by internationally-renowned dermatologist and alumnus Howard Murad ’62. Hodurski, who spent the last two decades at CVS Health, most recently served as Senior Advisor of Enterprise Pharmacy Talent Strategy and has been a member of the LIU Pharmacy faculty since 2018.

Emmy-Nominated Composer Releases New Opera

Emmy-nominated musician Craig Brandwein ’87 released his latest work “Longing – A Love Across The Ages (An Opera In One Act).” With over five decades of experience, Brandwein has written, produced, and composed music for network television, corporate clients, recording artists, and musical theater. He is a voting member of the National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS), the organization that presents the Grammy awards.

Fahmy Speaks at Euro-Arab Foundation Meeting in Spain

Dalia Fahmy, Director of the International Relations and Diplomacy program, presented on “Beyond Polarization: Combating Islamophobia and Antisemitism as Twin Challenges” at the Euroarab Foundation for Higher Studies meeting in Granada, Spain. Fahmy previously served as a Senior Fellow at the Center for Global Policy and frequently appears on national media broadcasts to discuss international issues.

Pharmacy Alumnus Advances Chemical Compound Research with New Publication

Ojas Prakashbhai Doshi ’20, Senior Formulation Scientist at PAI Pharma, co-authored a new study published in Nature’s Scientific Reports. Doshi has secured five fully-granted patents, with four additional patents pending approval. Read more.

Garrett Yawn Wins Pitcher of the Year Award

Garrett Yawn won NEC Baseball Pitcher of the Year and All-NEC First Team honors after leading LIU to the regular season title . Yawn led the conference in wins (9), strikeouts (98), innings pitched (88.1), and shutouts (2). He pitched two complete games and boasted the second-best ERA in the NEC.

Renowned Dermatologist Addresses Class of 2025 at Brooklyn Commencement

Howard Murad ’62, an internationally renowned dermatologist, pharmacist, clinical professor, and founder of Murad Skincare Inc., offered remarks to LIUBrooklyn graduates at the Class of 2025 commencement ceremony. Dubbed the “Father of Modern Wellness” Murad is the author of more than a dozen books and has been awarded 19 patents for a wide range of health and wellness breakthroughs.

Sibylla Biotech appointed Dieter Weinand ’87 as Chairman of its Board of Directors. Weinand is the former President, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Bayer Pharmaceuticals AG and has held senior management roles at Bristol-Meyers Squibb, Pfizer and other leading pharmaceutical companies.
