Renovated Psychological Services Center Supports Community

The Psychological Services Center celebrated its reopening inside a newly renovated space on the LIU Post campus. The Center provides a wide range of psychological services to children, adults, and families on campus and in the surrounding community, with clinical psychology doctoral students providing care and gaining professional development.

Accomplished Attorney Awarded for Access to Justice

Paul Adler ’83 was chosen by Legal Services of the Hudson Valley to receive the Access to Justice Award at its annual Equal Access to Justice Gala. Adler is the chief strategy officer of Rand Commercial and is known for his service to his local community, having founded the Paul and Mary Adler Charitable Fund For Good to support non-profits and civic organizations.

Healthcare Finance Expert Appointed as CFO

Carter Ward ’86 was selected as the chief financial officer of Mirror Biologistics, a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company. Ward’s 30-year career in finance involves a particular focus on healthcare, previously serving as CFO of both Enveric Biosciences and Elite Pharmaceuticals after beginning his career at KPMG.

Scholar Selected for International Library Research Program

Vita Kurland, a student in the Palmer School of Library and Information Science, was chosen to participate in the 2022-2024 Association of Research Libraries Kaleidoscope Program. With a particular focus on diversity and inclusion, the Kaleidoscope Program offers students financial support, leadership development, a formal mentoring program, career placement assistance, and a visit to an ARL member library.

Top Goal Scorer Named to National Player of the Year Watchlist

Men’s soccer forward Emil Jaaskelainen joins the top college soccer players in the nation on the watch list for the 2022 MAC Hermann Trophy, awarded annually to the national player of the year. Jaaskelainen led the Sharks with 15 goals during their Northeast Conference Championship season in 2021, finishing first in the conference and second in NCAA Division I in goals scored.

Fortune 500 Financial Leader Appointed as CFO

Bob Badolato ‘85 was selected as the chief financial officer of The Bachrach Group, one of the nation’s top-ranked executive recruiting firms. Badolato’s three decades of experience in high-level finance roles at Fortune 500 companies includes three previous CFO appointments, the chief accounting officer of TD Waterhouse, and a senior audit manager at Ernst & Young.

Water Polo Star Earns All-America Honors

The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches named junior Elena Camarena to the Division I All-American Team, adding to her stellar list of achievements in 2022. Camarena was crowned the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year and first-team All-MAAC while leading the Sharks to a peak of #17 in the national rankings.

United Nations Hires Talented Archivist for Records Management

Emily Antoville ’14 joins the United Nations as an information management assistant in the New York City repository and reading room. Antoville is responsible for maintaining the UN’s Archives and Records Management Section (ARMS) databases, creating and maintaining manual accession records, and overseeing internal records retrieval, loan, digitization and staff clearance operations.

Pharmaceutical Executive Ranked Among Top 25 Healthcare Tech Leaders

Loni Da Silva ’95 is one of Miami’s Top 25 Healthcare Technology Leaders, according to The Healthcare Technology Report. Da Silva is the senior vice president of regulatory affairs at Oyster Point Pharma, a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of first-in-class therapies to address ophthalmic disease.

Faculty Awarded Grant for Cultural Preservation Programs

Deborah Mutnick, professor of English, earned an Action Grant from Humanities New York (HNY) for her project “Whose Streets? Our Streets: Remain, Reclaim, Rebuild,” a new initiative documenting Brooklyn communities’ efforts to reclaim their streets. HNY’s grants support innovative public humanities offerings that encourage audiences to reflect on their values and explore new ideas.
