Strickland Honored During Knicks Homecoming Weekend

Men’s Basketball Head Coach Rod Strickland was honored during New York Knicks Homecoming Weekend, as one of more than forty alumni celebrated for their accomplishments with the iconic franchise. During his 17-year NBA career, Strickland earned NBA All-Rookie Second Team honors with the Knicks during the 1988-89 season.

APA Journal Publishes Research on World War Hospital Records

Faculty members in the Department of Counseling and Development were published in the competitive journal The Teaching of Psychology, part of the American Psychological Association’s Teaching and Learning division. Dr. Kathy Keefe-Cooperman, Associate Professor and Department Chair, and Dr. Dogukan Ulupina, Assistant Professor, examined care for people with serious mental illness during the period between World War I and World War II using previously unknown records from a state hospital.

Pharmacy Professor Featured in National Media

Dr. Elaena Quattrocchi, associate professor in the College of Pharmacy, provided her expert insight in a Fox News article about how a drug used for transplant patients that may have anti-aging effects. The story, circulated by AOL, highlighted new research surrounding the immune-suppressing medication rapamycin, also known as sirolimus. 

Biosafety Expert Recognized by Continental Who’s Who

Phillip George Hauck ’75 was recognized as a Top Pinnacle Professional by Continental Who’s Who, a national organization that highlights industry leaders in a variety of professional fields. Hauck has made significant contributions to the field of biosafety throughout his 40-year career, including 18 years as the Biosafety Director at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Forbes Features MetaMoon Summit at Roc Nation School

Forbes highlighted The Summit: Rise of Asian Artists and their Global Fandom hosted at The Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment. The one-day conference on Asian artists and representation in the music industry featured panel discussions and masterclasses by industry professionals, as well as performances by musical icons Eric Nam, Henry Lau, Emei and Sunkis.

Journalism Alumnus Publishes New Book

The latest book by author Wayne Dawkins ’77, Sam Lacy and Wendell Smith: The Dynamic Duo That Desegregated American Sports, was published by Routledge Press. Dawkins is a journalism professor at Hampton University and the historian of the National Association of Black Journalists.

Dean Presents at State Council of Superintendents Summit

Dr. Laura Seinfeld, Dean of the College of Education, Information & Technology, co-presented at the New York State Council of School Superintendents 2024 Fall Leadership Summit. Dr. Seinfeld, who served as the Superintendent of the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District from 2013 – 2020, presented on “Navigating Life After the Superintendency: Challenges and Joys.”

ESPN Highlights Spectacular Sharks Touchdown

On a segment during ESPN’s morning show “Get Up,” longtime NFL center Jeff Saturday shined a spotlight on quarterback Ethan Greenwood’s jaw-dropping 55-yard touchdown run during the third quarter of the Sharks’ 28-7 victory over Sacred Heart. Needing just a yard, Greenwood took a QB sneak to the house after emerging through a scrum of players trying to tackle him. Watch it here.

state-of-the-art Dolby Atmos pro studio recently unveiled at the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment. The 2,4000 square-foot studio – equipped with four iso booths for live band recordings, a large tracking room, and a 750 square foot control room equipped with cutting-edge technology – was modeled after the famed Baseline Studios.
