Hundreds of High School Students Celebrate National Civics Day

1657

National Civics Day, celebrated annually on October 27th, recognizes the importance of civic education across America. Civics Day was founded by the Roosevelt School and the Society of Presidential Descendants in 2021 and the day was formally approved by US Congress later that year. This year, Civics Day was commemorated at the Roosevelt School through a number of national and local events. The White House Experience in partnership with the Council on Foreign Relations Education hosted 140 students from area high schools to participate in governmental simulations, a virtual summit brought together national civic leaders for thought-provoking discussion, and a birthday party—with cake—honored Theodore Roosevelt’s 165th birthday.
