Students Complete Fashion Consulting Project in Italy

Students in the Fashion Merchandising and Management program traveled to Florence and Milan, as part of a semester-long business consulting project with Zerolab , a space where craftsmanship and sustainability come together to support emerging designers in Florence.

Forbes Profiles Young Guru’s Work at Roc Nation School

Grammy Award-winning audio engineer and producer Gimel “Young Guru” Keaton was the subject of a feature profile in Forbes, highlighting his work teaching students in the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entrepreneurship. Keaton serves as Director of the Music Technology, Entrepreneurship & Production program. He works with the music industry’s top artists, spanning from JAY-Z to Rihanna to Mariah Carey.

Holm Joins Sweden National Team for World Championship

Women’s hockey goaltender Tindra Holm has earned a spot on the Sweden National Team for the second straight year at the upcoming IIHF World Championship. Holm, the NEWHA Goaltender of the Year, had a record-breaking season with a 1.95 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage. She played a major role in helping LIU set a new program record with 28 wins.

Empowering the Next Generation of Engineers

Recent graduates Jared Ebersole ’23, Luke St. Armand ’22 and senior Daniel Tellerman are inspiring the next generation of engineers through interactive electric vehicle kits with their startup venture Lectec. Lectec’s first set of kits recently arrived at several schools and in the U.S. and Saudi Arabia. Ebersole and St. Armand are co-founders and Tellerman serves as Director of Growth. St. Armand left his job at Amazon to commit to building the venture full-time.

Kortman Reaches Milestone 800th Victory

Softball head coach Roy Kortmann reached the milestone of 800 career wins with the team’s victory over Stonehill. Kortmann began his career at LIU in 1994 and has turned the program into a conference powerhouse with 12 NEC regular-season titles, 11 NEC championships and 11 trips to the NCAA tournament. He and his staff have earned NEC Coaching Staff of the Year 10 times and coached four NCAA All-Americans. Kortmann is currently top-30 all time in NCAA softball career wins.

Investment Fund Students Ring the Nasdaq Bell

LIU-iF students visited Nasdaq headquarters in Times Square and participated in the iconic closing bell ceremonies. LIU-iF, the university’s student managed investment fund, provides students with the opportunity to manage a real investment portfolio of over $150,000 while also allowing them to network with advisors who have experience on Wall Street.

Hornstein Survey Highlights Opportunities and Considerations for Minority Entrepreneurs

The Steven S. Hornstein Center for Policy, Polling, and Analysis recently conducted a comprehensive survey to delve into the challenges that minority-owned businesses on Long Island face. The survey was distributed by key organizations including The Long Island Association, LIAACC Chamber of Commerce, and Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and aimed to shed light on the current landscape for minority entrepreneurs. D’Alesio Advances to NCAA Wrestling Championship

Anthony D’Alesio secured his spot in the NCAA Wrestling Championships, becoming the first wrestler in LIU history to achieve this milestone since the school’s Division I inception. D’Alesio defeated nationally ranked Maximus Hale of the University of Pennsylvania with a score of 4-2 in the EIWA Championships, locking up the final NCAA qualifying spot in the 184-pound weight class.

Veterinary Technology Students Awarded Scholarships

Three students in the Veterinary Technology Program received scholarships: Ashley Doxey was awarded by the Long Island Veterinary Medical Association (LIVMA), Charlotte Kozlowski was awarded by the EQUUS Foundation and Amanda Antonucci Veterinary received the Technician National Examination Award from the American Association of Veterinary State Boards.
