Smithsonian Displays Alumnus’ Collection

Byron Lewis ’53 has been called the “original king of Black media” by the New York Times. After founding UniWorld in 1969, Lewis’ company went on to champion multicultural advertising and promote the interests of Black consumers. Clients included Mars Inc., Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, AT&T, Ford Motor, the U.S. Marines and more. A collection from his groundbreaking career titled “Byron Lewis, Ad King Extraordinaire” is currently on display at the Smithsonian Museum’s Consumer Era section.
