Alumnus Restoring Renowned Alligator Reef in Florida Keys

1377

The volunteer work of Art Zupko ’73 is helping revitalize the world-famous Alligator Reef in Islamorada, FL. Zupko serves as a volunteer scuba diver with Islamorada Conservation and Restoration Education (I.CARE). The Florida Keys are home to one of the world’s largest coral reefs. Zupko and other scuba divers transplant and monitor the reefs, which have collectively lost over 50 percent of the coverage they had in 1970.
